Talk:Mplayer Installation

From FreeBSDwiki
Jump to: navigation, search

the install process from ports includes the mplayer-skins automatically when make WITH_GUI=yes install in FreeBSD-6.1-R-p2, but when trying to copy the files from /usr/local/share/mplayer/ i found that there is no codecs.conf file in that directory...

i am making

>make WITHOUT_RUNTIME_CPUDETECTION=yes WITH_GUI=yes WITH_FREETYPE=yes WITH_XVID=yes WITH_DVD=yes WITH_SVGALIB=yes WITH_MAD=yes WITH_AALIB=yes WITH_SDL=yes WITH_VORBIS=yes WITH_REALPLAYER=yes WITH_LIVEMEDIA=yes WITH_FAAD=yes WITH_XMMS=yes install clean

once it's over i'll let you know.

Another problem one might run into when making like the above is not being able to fetch the right version of liveMedia. The sources of liveMedia change very often and once a new release is out it's really hard to fetch the version needed for port to build. Fetching the last version, changing the distinfo file with the right file name and MD5 sum does the trick, though. If you want more info on this let me know

works...

...like a charm :)

All I had to do differently from the guide was to download net/liveMedia manually and to fix the distinfo file with the right values. Now I just need to figure out how to install the firefox plugin and I'm all set :)
