FreeBSD is coherent
FreeBSD is a complete, coherent operating system and this is one of its biggest strengths among open source OSes. GNU/Linux is fragmented as its name and Linux itself is but a kernel, not an operating system. The sundry GNU/Linux distributions are gatherings of a particular build of the Linux kernel along with GNU and other utilities which have been bundled together. In Jimbo's personal opinion the outcome of this is often rather arbitrary and scattered.
