Gvinum provides software-based RAID for the FreeBSD operating system. Gvinum is the replacement, since FreeBSD 5.3, for the Vinum Volume Manager, re-written to utilize geom communication methods, and is included in the FreeBSD core distribution. Many, but not all, of the vinum functions are reproduced in gvinum.
